Aromatherapy Recipes

Aromatherapy is a simple way to help you relax, invigorate or de-stress (depending on your mood). Explore the recipes for common blends below and experiment with oils you particularly love to create your personal blends.

Aromatherapy For Children
Kids have smaller, growing body frames compared to adults and they are often experiencing essential oils for the first time. Therefore it is important to temper the strength of the oil/carrier dilution from the 2-3% standard for adults to 1-2% for kids. Also always conduct the standard patch test when introducing a child to any new essential oil.

Homework Inspiration
Give kids a reason to hit the books with this motivating Aromatherapy blend:

3 drops rosemary
6 drops bergamot
1 drops peppermint

Add the oils to a lamp ring diffuser or simply apply them to a tissue or cotton ball that your child can sniff from time to time.

Aromatherapy Bath Blend
An aromatherapy bath can help to soothe and relax at the end of a long stressful day. Mineral salts may also be used to enhance the benefits of essential oils. These minerals invigorate and tone the skin while drawing out excess water and toxins from the body.

Try this recipe for creating an uplifting yet soothing citrus scented bath:

3 tablespoons of sea salt
2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate or baking soda
1 tablespoon of borax
9 drops of Aura Cacia Tangerine Essential Oil
7 drops of Aura Cacia Lavender Essential Oil
2 drops of Aura Cacia Chamomile Essential Oil

Refreshing Facial Toner/Mist
With careful and proper dilution, aromatherapy oils can safely be applied to the skin. Make your own applications, or just add a few drops of oil to your favorite lotions and creams.

To make a refreshing facial mist, add the following essential oils to 2 fluid ounces of distilled water:

6 drops Aura Cacia Lavender Essential Oil
1 drop Aura Cacia Clary Sage Essential Oil
1 drop Aura Cacia Chamomile Essential Oil
4 drops Aura Cacia Lemon Essential Oil

Pour into a spray mister bottle. Essential oils and water will separate, so shake the bottle vigorously before spritzing this refreshing blend onto clean skin.
