Natural Skin Care
Suncare That Cares for Your Skin ... Naturally
Did you know that it only takes one incident of overexposure to the sun
during childhood to increase the chance of developing skin cancer,
wrinkles, freckles and age spots later in life?
A simple application of sunscreen, everyday, can help reduce the effects
of UVA and UVB rays and keep your skin healthy for years to come.
We prefer all-natural, PABA-free sunscreens made with soothing
botanicals and FDA approved broad-spectrum sunscreen ingredients and
without parabens or chemical preservatives. Look for sunscreens made
with titanium dioxide, a mineral that helps to deflect the sun’s rays away
from your skin.
- Choose sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. This number indicates
the amount of time you can spend in the sun without burning. For
example, if you burn after 10 minutes, then an SPF15 should allow you
to stay in the sun 15 times longer without burning, about 150 minutes.
- Keep in mind that SPF numbers indicate protection from UVB rays only.
- Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outside.
- Remember that snow reflects up to 80 percent of the sun’s rays which
can cause sunburn and skin damage to unprotected skin.
- Keep hydrated and enjoy a diet rich in vitamin C which supports
collagen production.
